Apple Silicon Support, Articulation Maps, MPE Support, and More

Digital Performer 11 is a massive upgrade for MOTU's flagship DAW software, with support for Apple silicon Macs and macOS Big Sur, and optimized multi-core performance to keep up with your most demanding projects. Composers will love DP11's Articulation Maps for today's advanced orchestral sound libraries, streamlining your ability to play, record, and program amazingly expressive performances. And support for MIDI Polyphonic Expression controllers gives DP11 huge creative potential with MPE-capable controllers from Roli and other manufacturers. With all this and much more, MOTU's Digital Performer 11 is the professional’s clear choice for songwriting, studio production, live performance, film and television soundtracks, post production, and surround mixing.

Note: This is a specially priced upgrade version of Digital Performer 11. Call your Sales Engineer for details.

Streamline your scoring workflow with Articulation Maps

If you work with advanced orchestral libraries like VSL, East West, Spitfire, and Cinesamples, among others, you'll be amazed by Digital Performer 11's Articulation Maps. Articulation Maps work with DP11's QuickScribe notation editor, linking different articulations to symbols, stem ornaments, alternate note heads, or custom text within QuickScribe, and connecting them to specific articulations in your orchestra library. You'll be able to compose faster and more efficiently with easier access to all your articulations, and you can even switch to a completely different sound library while maintaining your articulations.

Support for MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) control

MPE has been revolutionary for keyboard composition and performance, allowing you to use a range of gestures to add depth and expression to your sounds. Digital Performer 11 now supports MPE-capable controllers from Roli and other manufacturers, capturing MIDI notes with encapsulated MPE expression data overlaid on the notes for easy editing. A new Scale tool allows you to adjust the range of expression from MPE data at any time. Best of all, Digital Performer 11's MX4 and other included synthesizer plug-ins are now MPE enabled, letting you explore MPE's vast expressive potential right from the start.

Always recording so you never miss a take

Musicians at Sweetwater are painfully aware that if you're not recording during a flash of inspiration, you may never capture that magical moment. With Digital Performer 11's Retrospective Recording capabilities, you're always recording. Retrospective Recording allows you to instantly recall any audio or MIDI you've recently played, ensuring you'll never have to worry about re-creating an inspired take or improvised phrase.

Live triggering and looping with the Clips window

DP has always been a top-shelf DAW. Now, with Digital Performer 11, it’s also a full-fledged performance instrument. Effortlessly drag and drop audio and MIDI clips from the content browser into Clips window cells, then trigger and loop them in real time. And with advanced support for pad controllers like the Novation Launchpad and Akai APC series, you can deliver engaging interactive live performances or reap the benefits of instantaneous, on-the-fly inspiration while creating music in your studio.

Solid

I upgraded from DP10. Runs pretty smoothly on M1 MAC Mini. This product is well worth the price for both the core purchase (~$500) and the upgrade (~$200). Help documentation and user manual are okay. MOTU customer service is pretty good. I don't want to pay for a time based subscription line other DAWs charge, so this is a great fit in regards to that.

OLD FREND

Have been using DP back whin it was 2 and got side tracked with other DAW but I always like the basic of DP. NOW that DP work with M1 MAC it is nice to be home. I use a Studio Live 32 with it and it work very good.

A good upgrade

I am happy with this upgrade, more so then other upgrades to DP. It can sometimes be a little buggy on my older Mac Pro, but no major mid performance crashes and graphically I think it's the best looking DP. I probably don't run it as hard as some will, so take my review for what it's worth.

Digital Performer

Upgrades never on sale. Very few and minimal updates. Outdated in many areas like UI. Clunky as heck. Very Niche Daw. Could do way better for a general user base.
Rated 1/5

Slow updates, lots of bugs, tiny UI elements.

The title says it all. It's updated relatively infrequently, with minimal communication (if at all). The updates are consistently full of bug fixes, yet they can't seem to chase down most of them. The audio portion of the program is used relatively infrequently in the userbase so issues here seem to be reported equally infrequently or get minimal focus.

The GUI is chock full of the smallest widgets in any DAW. Difficult to see, difficult to click. There is a zoom option, but now you're sacrificing screen real estate to "solve" a problem that every other DAW has figured out long ago. If you're on Windows, don't. It's a disaster especially if you have a HiDPI screen despite them "fixing" it. Fonts are blurry, some elements are misplaced, minor misalignment in some places. It's just amateurish.

I have no choice but to use this software for some projects, and it's a sigh of relief when I can get back to using something else... anything else.
